From a Simple Act of Kindness to a Thriving Business: The Story of Frank Solutions LLC

It started with a note—just a few lines posted on the building’s listserv. It was early 2020 and the world was shifting in ways no one could have expected. The early days of the pandemic were filled with uncertainty, but one thing became immediately clear: many of our neighbors were struggling.

At The Promenade, a high-rise in Bethesda, most residents were older adults, many living alone, suddenly cut off from family, friends, and the routines that once tethered them to normalcy. Grocery shopping became a risk. Video calls with loved ones were out of reach for those who had never needed to master their smartphones. Simple tasks—like setting up a Zoom meeting, retrieving a lost Wi-Fi password, or troubleshooting a frozen laptop—became insurmountable hurdles.

So, we made an offer: If you need help, let us know. No charge. No hassle. We’ll come to you.

At first, it was small things. Helping a neighbor set up FaceTime so she could see her grandchildren. Troubleshooting a printer that had refused to cooperate for weeks. Teaching someone how to order groceries online so they wouldn’t have to risk a trip to the store.

But then, the calls kept coming.

One man, whose entire work-from-home setup had collapsed, needed an immediate solution. I ran to the Apple Store, purchased an iPad on his behalf, and set it up—wearing gloves, sanitizing everything—so he could resume work without missing a beat. Another resident ordered a stationary bike online but had no way of assembling it. We put it together and carried it into his apartment.

People started reaching out, not just for help, but to say thank you. One left a handwritten note. Others called, just to express gratitude. And in the midst of a world turned upside down, I realized something profound: technology wasn’t just about gadgets—it was about connection, independence, and peace of mind.

A Business Was Born

The need wasn’t temporary. Even as the world slowly reopened, our neighbors continued asking for help. And soon, it wasn’t just older adults—it was parents trying to set up parental controls for their kids, small business owners who needed guidance on websites and IT support, and people of all ages frustrated by the ever-changing digital world.

That’s how Frank Solutions LLC was born—not from a business plan, but from a deep understanding that technology should empower, not frustrate.

Now, we provide in-person and virtual tech support designed for older adults, parents, and small businesses. Whether it’s setting up new devices, troubleshooting a stubborn issue, securing your family’s online safety, or helping your business grow, we offer patient, hands-on support with transparent pricing—because no one should feel lost or overwhelmed by technology.

What started as an act of goodwill has become a mission. Technology should work for you—not the other way around.

If you need help, we’re here.
